Lasso Lassie v0.3 released!


Howdy yall! I'm back with another update for Lasso Lassie! This week's focus was on the game's enemies. Last week they only stood there and shot at you, but this week, my goal was to make them much more of a threat. That's why I invested a lot of time into learning about navigation, and how I can apply that to my existing vector knowledge to make some interesting enemy movements. So now, the enemies actually move towards the player and avoid walls and obstacles along the way. The system is not perfect by all means, but it's a great step in the right direction.

Another thing I added this week was new types of enemies! Namely, a moving cactus guy. What's so scary about him, is that you cant lasso him! no matter how hard you try. His spikes will just rip up your lasso as it passes right through him. But what's the best way to take him out? Lasso other things, and hit em with them! I think this helps reinforce the lasso as a tool, and sometimes removing this tool from one equation, can create a lot more interesting uses for it in other ways to make a much more diverse play experience.

So, what's new in this update:

  • Basic enemy AI
  • A new cactus enemy
  • Health and bullets UI
  • Aim assist for controller users
